About me
Celebrating the milestones of life has been part of human nature since the beginning of time. From welcoming a new life into the world to sharing a wedding breakfast to celebrate a union we all have memories of these special days (even the difficult ones) which make us smile and help us remember and celebrate.

Why become a celebrant
After working for 13 years as a Deputy Headteacher the time came when I needed to find a new adventure/challenge which I could be passionate about. Whilst researching the many options available I came across celebrancy and, after wondering what on earth it was, I realised it was exactly what I was looking for,

One of the most enjoyable parts of my previous jobs has been the ability to work with families and to support them in facing the changes needed during specific events in their lives. I also spent many hours writing assemblies and services for the children to take part in as we were linked to the local C of E church. Alongside this in my spare time I enjoy participating in local amateur dramatics and choirs. All of which, I have since discovered, have equipped me with numerous skills which I can use in my role as a family celebrant.

What do I do?
Deciding who will help you present your ceremony can be daunting for anyone but by choosing me you will get a truly personalised service which focuses on you and making sure the day is exactly what you dreamt it would be,

A celebrant is a person who performs or officiates ceremonies, and whilst commonly seen at weddings we can also conduct other ceremonies like vow renewals, baby namings, funerals, interments and memorials.

I will meet with you and anyone else involved in your day to discuss options, talk about your history together and also work with you individually to support you in writing any personal words that you might be saying. As a keen writer and teacher of English I love to use story telling in my ceremonies and learning of your story is key to my role in this unique event.

Training & Qualifications
With a career in teaching I have completed numerous training courses gaining qualifications to Masters level. These have covered many areas from Research & Investigation to presentation skills; coaching & mentoring to creative writing.

My route into celebrancy has been through the Institute of Professional celebrants with whom I trained at the start of 2021. Subsequently I have enrolled to complete the NOCN (National Open College Network) Level 3 Certificate in Civil Celebrancy in the UK as well as attending regular updates and CPD meetings.
